How do I learn to play the guitar?

I really wanna be like awesome guitar players, like the guy in Hannah Montana’s band. What’s the fastest way to learn guitar really well? Like as good as him?

I need to learn how to play several of Hannah Montana’s songs in 2 months so I can perform at my school’s Battle of the Bands.

I think we’re gonna win.

Help! Post some links, or books, or guides on how to learn fast. There’s so many strings and places to put your fingers, it’s overwhelming.

Thanks.

You just gotta feel the music, man.

Drugs help too.

And long hair.

Dude, How old are you? It takes months (at least) of intense practice to even begin to understand how to play like that? Check this one out:

hi you may be able to grasp the basics in 2 months but i don’t personally think you can learn how to play in that time most have been playing for a lot years ,theres a lot of Technics and styles that are developed over years of practice do something easy to learn for your battle of the bands dont give up ,try to learn the guitar from a beginners book hanna montana isnt that hard ,im sure you could learn these easy! but in 2 months ?,there are three easy cords that can do most country songs and not knowing how to play yet you may be able to use these ! i think its a big ask of your self but hay ,never say never i encourage you to have a go at it , go to the guitar shop and ask for a book that can give you the basic cords for beginners, best of luck and please let me know how it all works out

It depends… I guess you can learn to play the hanna montana songs in two months but I don’t think that you’ll be able to learn guitar in two months there’s just no way

Well personally and don’t take this the wrong way but the guy in Hannah Montana’s band is not good. Look at Andres Segovia, Paco de Lucia, Jimmy Page, Yngwie, Buckethead, Paul gilbert, Steve Vai, Satch, Etc. Now they are good guitarists.

That Being said If you want to learn to be good at guitar there is no way you can do in two months I have been playing for over 2 years and I am still not that good. There is no way you can become good in two months. Unless you go down to the CrossRoads (J.K.)

Now you said you wanted to learn a few songs now that you may be able to accomplish Listen to the song and ignore everyone but the guitarist focus on his technique his style and his sound. Feel the emotion in what he plays and put it into your cover of the song (also adding your own emotion is advised) Guitar is more than a musical instrument it like all instruments are an extension of one’s self. Now after you know how the song sound start practicing the chrds or notes (depends on the song) and once you think you have it down start playing along with the song until you can do it perfectly everytime.

P.S. you will make mistakes don’t worry about them focus on you improvement. Also Take the song slow at first and try and play every note perfectly, play as slow as you need to get it right, some times when you play full speed your muscle don’t have time to remember what they are doing but if you play the song perfectly at slow speeds even if it seems pointless trust me you are learning.

come on…don’t make the mistake of setting your sights on the greats at this point of time!

just practice practice practice….get yourself to a fairly decent level and then think about where you want to go…

i know from personal experience, it isn’t easy…

why dont you start off with some free guitar videos on youtube?

or better still with a complete package of online video tutorials such as those on http://www.guitarhotness.com ?
